Any planet close to one of the angles plays a huge part in the character of the person. The angles are ASC, DC, MC, and IC
Any planet that makes many aspects to other planets is also very important
A planet that makes many hard aspects shows more in the character of a person than a planet that makes mostly soft aspects.
Planets in the angular houses (1, 4, 7, 10) comes through stronger in the character of the person
The house and sign of the North node. Look also if any planets are aspecting the NN. If so these planets are super important.
When you have looked at all these things is where the intuition comes in. Can you see something that is coming through stronger? It’s not easy, but you will learn over time.
